The Blackwire IVPM is a sealed, wearable inline cable that transcodes tactical video to AV1 at the point of transmission. It drops between the video source — an end-user device, ground station, or UAS payload — and the tactical radio. No exposed ports, no extra box on the operator, no changes to the radio.
Inside is a full edge compute node running FLEX: cutting video bandwidth 80–90% versus H.264 and putting full-motion video on links that were previously voice-only — from MANET to HF, MUOS, and TACSAT.
Ships with FLEX on board — the same software-defined tactical video encoder available on host compute you already own. IVPM is the fastest fielding path for FLEX in a dismounted, wearable form factor.
A full software-defined router, not a one-way compression dongle. ISR video streams outbound while C2 and telemetry return on the same connection; FLEX both encodes and decodes.
Ingests already-encoded H.264 / H.265 network video over RTSP, RTMP, RTP, SRT, or UDP and re-compresses to error-resilient AV1 — no changes to the sensor or the radio on either side.
Built for the dismounted operator: sealed inline cable form factor with Nett Warrior connectors, no RJ45, USB-C, or D-sub exposed to the elements or to snag hazards.
Quad-core ARM Cortex-A76 (Raspberry Pi CM5) with 16GB RAM and 64GB eMMC running Blackwire-WRT, a hardened OpenWrt build with Docker integration — a real compute node without a separate laptop or device.
Software-defined networking with multi-WAN support, Starlink integration, and USB gadget modes — managed through the Blackwire LuCi web interface.
